Where to Eat on Harbour Island

For an island just three and a half miles long, Harbour Island has a remarkable food scene. You’ll find relaxed beachside lunches, lively waterfront bars, fresh seafood shacks and elegant dining rooms, often within a few minutes’ golf cart ride of each other. Here is how we suggest approaching it.

Start With Conch

Conch is the taste of the Bahamas, and no visit is complete without it. Try it as fresh conch salad, tossed with lime, peppers and onion; fried as fritters with a dipping sauce; or cracked and served with peas and rice. The casual spots near the dock in Dunmore Town are a great place to start.

Long Lunches by the Beach

Lunch is a highlight on Briland. Several of the island’s most beloved restaurants sit right above the pink sand, and a long lunch with a view of the Atlantic is one of the island’s great pleasures. Go with no plans for the afternoon.

Sunset Drinks on the Harbour

As the sun drops behind Eleuthera, the harbour side comes alive. Waterfront bars and terraces fill up for sundowners, and it’s the perfect place for a rum punch or a Goombay Smash before dinner.

Some nights, the best table on the island is your own.

Dinner: Dress Up or Stay In

Harbour Island’s best dining rooms are polished and romantic, with menus that blend island ingredients and international technique. Many fill up quickly in high season, so it pays to book ahead. Our concierge can secure reservations at the island’s most sought-after tables before you arrive.

Some nights, the best table on the island is your own. A private chef can prepare a family-style dinner of fresh-caught fish, lobster in season and Bahamian sides at your home, so you can linger as long as you like.

Don’t Miss

  • Fresh bread and pastries from a local bakery for breakfast at the house.
  • Fish fry nights, a local tradition with music and plenty of fried snapper.
  • Stocking up on arrival: our team can stock your fridge and pantry before you land, so breakfast on day one is already handled.

Hours and menus change seasonally on the island. Ask our team for current recommendations, or see our dining guide.
