Getting to Harbour Island: From Your Flight to the Pink Sand

Part of Harbour Island’s charm is that it takes a little effort to reach. There is no airport on the island and no cruise port, which is exactly why it feels so far from everything. The journey is simpler than it sounds, though, and once you’ve done it once it becomes part of the ritual.

Step 1: Fly to North Eleuthera (ELH)

The gateway to Harbour Island is North Eleuthera Airport (ELH), on the island of Eleuthera just across the water. Depending on the season, you can reach it with direct flights from several U.S. cities, or by connecting through Nassau (NAS) on a short regional flight. Private and charter flights land here too.

Flight schedules change from season to season, so we always recommend checking current routes when you book. Our team is happy to help you find the best option from your home city.

Step 2: A Short Taxi to the Dock

Taxis wait outside the small terminal and will take you to the North Eleuthera ferry dock, a quick drive of just a few minutes. Have some cash on hand for the taxi and water taxi, as it makes things easier.

Step 3: The Water Taxi Across

Water taxis run back and forth across the harbour throughout the day. The crossing takes about ten minutes, and it’s the moment most guests feel the vacation truly begin: turquoise water, the pastel houses of Dunmore Town coming into view, and the breeze in your face.

Step 4: Arrive at Your Home

When you step off the boat at the Government Dock in Dunmore Town, your stay is officially underway. Reverie guests can arrange to have a golf cart waiting and ready to go, so there’s no hunting for transportation with luggage in tow. Our team will meet you, help with your bags and get you settled.

Planning Tips

  • Bring your passport. The Bahamas is an international destination, so all travelers, including U.S. citizens, need a valid passport.
  • Pack light. Regional planes and water taxis have limited room, and island life calls for very little.
  • Leave buffer time. Island schedules can shift with weather, so avoid tight connections on travel days.
  • Let us help. Our VIP arrival service can coordinate transfers, golf carts and even a stocked fridge before you land.
